Elise Christie into 500m short track speed skating final

Great Britain speed skater Elise Christie has reached the final of the 500m short track event at Sochi 2014.

Christie led her dramatic semi-final heat in a time of 43.837s, which saw double world champion Fan Kexin spin out early in the race allowing the Brit to race clear of the field.

Christie will be joined in the final by South Korea's Park Seung-Hi, Italy's Arianna Fontana and China's Li Jianrou - whom Christie beat in her semi-final race.

Team GB have never won a women's short track Olympic medal.

The final of the event will take place later today.
