Team GB's Elise Christie "confused" by disqualification

Great Britain's Elise Christie says she was left "confused" after she was disqualified from her 1500m short track speed skating heat at the Sochi Games.

Elise Christie has said that she was left "confused" by the decision to disqualify her from the heats of the 1500m short track speed skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The 23-year-old Great Britain athlete thought that she had qualified in second position for the semi-final, but she was subsequently disqualified for an infringement as she crossed the finish line.

"I was waiting to watch my teammate [Charlotte Gilmartin] race and I didn't know whether I'd come first or second, but I believed I'd qualified and skated a clean race," Christie told reporters after the race.

"However, they've disqualified me. I don't know what to say, I'm just confused. It's out of my control now, it's happened and I need to get on with it.

"I'm looking forward to getting back out there for the 1000m but it's been a hard few days and I'm struggling to bounce back. I'm just going to try my best."

Christie suffered heartbreak in the 500m short track speed skating final on Thursday after colliding with two of her opponents.
