Team GB's Nicholas Buckland praises the figure skating venue at Sochi, which he says produced a 'great energy from the crowd to feed off'.

Great Britain figure skater Nicholas Buckland has praised the "great energy" generated by spectators in Sochi.

The 24-year-old secured a top 10 position along with dance partner Penny Coomes, an improvement on Vancouver's 20th-placed finish.

"We wanted to use the energy from the crowd and feed off it," Buckland is quoted as saying by Sochi2014.com. "It doesn't matter whether it's for the Russians or you. It's a great energy. It doesn't distract us at all."

The United States took gold in the figure skating pairs event, recording an overall score of 195.52.
