Team GB's Chemmy Alcott drops out of women's super combined slalom

Great Britain skier Chemmy Alcott will not compete in the women's super combined slalom at the 2014 Sochi Games.

Great Britain skier Chemmy Alcott has dropped out of the women's super combined slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The 31-year-old had earlier finished 16th in the women's super combined downhill, but she is one of three competitors who will not participate in the slalom discipline.

Alcott, who broke her leg for the third time last year, has pulled out of the slalom so that she can compete in the ladies' downhill event.

"Because my downhill run was so good, I'm going to pull out of the slalom," she told BBC Sport.

"The nail in my leg isn't feeling pretty. Having done that now, I know that I'm race-ready, so I am saving myself for the downhill."

Alcott will take to the slope once more on Wednesday in the ladies' downhill event.
