Pilot Alexander Zubkov and brakeman Alexey Voevoda clocked up a combined time of 3:45.39 to finish in first place, with Beat Hefti and Alex Baumann of Switzerland finishing in second.

The bronze medal was taken by the United States, after Steve Holcomb, who won the four-man event four years ago in Vancouver, failed to improve on a third-place finish from the first day of competition.

Russian Federation pair Zubkov and Voevoda also set a new track record en route to their gold medal victory with a time of 56.08s in the third run.
