Gold medal for Vic Wild in parallel giant slalom

Vic Wild wins gold for Russia in the men's snowboarding parallel giant slalom event.

Russian Federation snowboarder Vic Wild has won gold in the men's parallel giant slalom at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

Wild, who opted to represent Russia over his native United States, overcame a half-second deficit against Nevil Galmarini of Switzerland to win the medal.

Zan Kosir of Slovenia took bronze, edging out German competitor Patrick Bussler for third place.

Wild, 27, completed the course just minutes after his wife Alena Zavarzina, who picked up a bronze medal in the female discipline.
