Plushenko passed fit for men's singles

Evgeni Plushenko has been passed fit to take part in the men's singles figure skating event at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 31-year-old's participation came under doubt after he complained of pain in his back, and there were discussions about replacing him.

However, the president of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia, Aleksandr Gorshkov, has now said that Plushenko will continue in the Sochi Games, according to Russia Today.

Plushenko helped his country win the gold medal in the team figure skating event on Sunday.
