Great Britain's only medallist from the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Amy Williams, has retired from the sport in which she won gold.

The 29-year-old has been struggling with injury and form and has now made the decision to quit skeleton.

Williams, who said it had been a hard decision to make, said: "I feel it is now time for me to see what other challenges lie ahead.

"I am extremely proud to have represented my country and have enjoyed every moment."

Williams put in record performances in Vancouver and became Britain's first solo Winter Olympic gold medallist since ice skater Robin Cousins in 1980.
