Elise Christie stays speed-skating world number one after a win in Japan.

Britain's Elise Christie earned her first World Cup victory of the season as she won the women's 1,000m at the short-track speed-skating meet in Japan.

The 22-year-old recorded a time of 1:30.48 to win gold in Nagoya, ahead of South Korea's Kim Min-Jung and Lee So-Youn in second and third respectively.

This result maintains Christie's position as World Cup leader after she picked up two second-placed finishes from the previous three races this season.

As her nearest competitor Valerie Maltais of Canada didn't make the A final, Christie's overall lead has been extended to 1,272 points.
