Johnson survives scare to retain world title

Demetrious Johnson has survived a second-round scare to retain his UFC flyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over John Dodson today.

Dodson dropped the champion twice in round two with a succession of left hooks but 'Mighty Mouse' hung on to stay in the fight.

Johnson gradually regained his composure and used his speed and footwork to gain the upper hand late in the fight.

A flurry of hard knees in the clinch by Johnson drew blood from the brave challenger late in the fourth frame as Dodson started to tire.

Johnson controlled the final round to earn a 48-47 49-46 48-47 win on the scorecards and successfully defend his title in the main event of UFC on FOX 6 in Chicago.
