Alistair Brownlee wins triathlon gold

Team England's Alistair Brownlee has won triathlon gold ahead of brother Jonathan, with South Africa's Richard Murray taking bronze on Thursday afternoon.

The Brownlee brothers finished the bike discipline at the same time, but the elder brother was stronger in the run and pulled away in order to stroll across the line at the end.

Brownlee finished with a time of 1:48:50, 11 seconds ahead of his brother and a further minute-and-a-half in front of the third-place South African.

Scotland's Marc Austin kept up with the brothers valiantly during the cycle, but ended up 21st overall.
