Great Britain's Gordon Reid misses out on a spot in the wheelchair tennis semi-finals after losing in straight sets to Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands.

Great Britain's Gordon Reid will not contest for a Paralympic medal at the London 2012 Games after losing 6-3 6-3 to Maikel Scheffers of the Netherlands.

The 20-year-old, who is the British number one, couldn't enforce his game in the first set and continued to relinquish his serve, which resulted in a 6-3 defeat in the opener.

Reid tried to launch a comeback in the second set by breaking his Dutch opponent at the first time of asking and was able to control the court in the early stages of the second.

Despite an early lead, Scheffers managed to break back and draw level on 3-3, which then allowed the Dutchman to claim another break to go 5-3 up and then serve for the victory.
