Alexandr Dolgopolov to face Andy Murray in Shanghai Masters third round

Dolgopolov sets up Murray bout

Alexandr Dolgopolov will go up against reigning Shanghai Masters champion Andy Murray in the third round of the competition after overcoming Gilles Simon 6-3 6-4.

The Ukrainian professional nabbed the first break of serve in the opening set, which allowed him to take control of the court and display some lofting forehands and strong returns to maintain the lead and take the set.

Number 15 seed Simon, failed to make an impact in the second set and the Frenchman lost his serve early to put him on the backfoot for the remainder of the set.

Dolgopolov managed to hold and maintain his dominance to set up a third-round tie with US Open champion Murray, who received a walkover after his opponent Florian Mayer withdrew through injury.
