Great Britain's Kyle Edmund loses to Andreas Seppi just days after missing out on his first ATP title.

Great Britain's Kyle Edmund has fallen at the first hurdle in the Monte Carlo Masters, losing to Italian Andreas Seppi by two sets to one in the round of 64.

The world number 23 had little time to prepare for the match, having lost 6-2 6-2 to Pablo Andujar in the final of the Grand Prix Hassan II just two days earlier.

Edmund lost the first set 6-3 before levelling the match by taking the second 5-7.

The Briton had played Seppi on two previous occasions and won both of those matches, but the hectic ATP schedule appeared to catch up with him in Monte Carlo, and he surrendered the final set 6-2.

Edmund will now turn his attention to his preparation for the French Open and Wimbledon, the next two Grand Slams.
