Kei Nishikori overpowers David Goffin to reach quarter-finals in Miami

Kei Nishikori strolls into the quarter-finals of the Miami Open with a straight-sets win against David Goffin of Belgium.

Kei Nishikori has booked his place in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open with a resounding 6-1 6-2 victory over David Goffin in round four.

The Japanese number one looked untouchable in the opening set, but was broken by the 18th-seeded Belgian at the first time of asking in the second.

However, Nishikori quickly recovered and went on to show the kind of form that has seen him go through the entire tournament without surrendering a set, winning the next six games to take the match.

Nishikori, who will play either John Isner or Milos Raonic in the next round, will move ahead of Rafael Nadal in the ATP world rankings on Monday following his latest victory.
