Kyle Edmund qualifies for main draw at China Open

British number two Kyle Edmund reaches the main draw of the China Open with a straight-sets win over Evgeny Donskoy.

Kyle Edmund has recorded a straight-sets win over Evgeny Donskoy to reach the main draw of the China Open.

The British number two is looking to end 2016 by breaking into the world's top 50, and he improved his chances with a 7-6 6-4 victory over Donskoy in the final qualifying round in Beijing.

After dominating a first-set tie-break, the 21-year-old broke serve on two occasions during the second set to come through in 95 minutes.

Edmund has been drawn in the same quarter as Andy Murray but he must come through a first-round clash with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez to move one match away from potentially playing his British compatriot.
