French Open - Day six as it happened

Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of day six of the French Open at Roland Garros.

Andy Murray overcame his back problem to progress in four sets on Thursday while Rafael Nadal and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga also safely booked their places in the third round.

Meanwhile, on the women's side of the draw, there were no problems for defending champion Li Na or former world number one Caroline Wozniacki, who both advanced to the next stage in straight sets.

Today's third-round matches see both Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic continue their campaigns while the women's top two seeds Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova are also in action.

Note that play gets underway at 10.00am

There are more big names on court in Paris tomorrow as Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova and Caroline Wozniacki are all in action. However, that's it from us here at Sports Mole tonight. We hope you've enjoyed our coverage from day six of the French Open and will see you tomorrow from 10am. Au revoir!

Pennetta puts her shot wide and Kerber is through to the next round. The German gives a squeal of delight after what could have been an upset.

RESULT: Kerber 4-6 6-3 6-2 Pennetta

20.35: Just Kerber's match with Pennetta to go. The German is serving for the match. However, the light is quickly fading...

That was about as routine as it gets for Djokovic. His French opponent showed some flashes of quality, but the Serbian was barely troubled throughout.

RESULT: Djokovic 6-1 6-2 6-2 Devilder

RESULT: Azarenka 6-4 6-4 Wozniack

20.30: Devilder holds so it falls to Djokovic to serve for the match.

20.27: Devilder threatened to break there, but Djokovic holds to put himself a game away from the next round.

20.26: Djokovic is now looking above him at th skies. It's suddenly getting dark in Paris...

20.23: Ooh, how telling could that be? Kerber finally breaks Pennetta in the decisive third set to go 3-2 ahead.

20.18: Elsewhere, Azarenka snatches a break from Wozniack to put her 4-3 up in the second. The world number one can sense the fourth round now.

20.17: Fair play to Devilder. He hangs in there and gets on the scoreboard with a hold of serve.

20.14: A long forehand from Devilder sees Djokovic sail into a 4-0 lead.

20.12: There's been some sporadic resistance from Devilder in this third set, but Djokovic ekes out another break to make it 3-0.

20.06: A meaty forehand from the Serbian puts him 2-0 up in the third.

20.02: It's another break for Djokovic at the start of the third. He's now looking to get this one wrapped up sooner rather than later.

19.59: SET! Kerber 4-6 6-3 Pennetta

19.58: Novak Djokovic looks as comfortable as I've seen him here. He's two sets up with just over an hour played.

19.57: SET! Djokovic 6-1 6-2 Devilder

19.56: Angelique Kerber breaks Flavia Pennetta again and is now serving for the second set.

19.55: A little smile from Devilder there as he brings it back to 2-5 in the second. His home crowd have raised the noise levels and he is loving it.

After taking the opening set, Victoria Azarenka makes a storming start to the second with a break of serve.

19.50: SET! Azarenka 6-4 Wozniack

19.49: A deft backhand at the net means that Djokovic is a game away from taking the second set. The Serb leads 5-1.

19.48: Kerber also breaks Pennetta to go 4-2 up in the second. Another two games and she's levelled the match.

19.47: Azarenka manages to break Wozniack in what has been a tough opening 45 minutes for the Women's world number one. She's now serving for the set.

19.45: Some pretty aggressive stuff from Djokovic there to find another break and establish a 4-1 lead in the second.

19.38: The world number one is very much in control now. Devilder whacks his forehand long and finds himself 1-3 down in the second.

19.34: Djokovic goes back into the league with another break. The Serb displayed a wonderful range of shots in that game.

19.31: Well I wasn't expecting that. After a long rally, Devilder sweeps a forehand down the line to break Djokovic back.

19.26: Djokovic makes the breakthrough at the start of the second. A stabbed volley at the net gives him an early break.

19.21: SET! Kerber 4-6 Pennetta

19.19: SET! It may sound peculiar, but Devilder played some solid shots in that set. However, it is Djokovic who takes it 6-1 thanks to a vicious ace. It's difficult to see how the Serbian can be challenged in this match.

19.17: It was starting to look live a love set for Djokovic there, but Devilder hits home an ace to give him his first hold. Deserved.

19.13: Elsewhere, Azarenka got off to a great start in her match with Wozniack after breaking the Canadian's first service game, but Wozniack seemed to stun the French crowd with a break of her own.

19.11: Djokovic looks well on course to clinch this first set. He now leads 4-0.

Right, we'll now be turning our attention to Novak Djokovic's match with Nicolas Devilder. The Serbian is already in control in the first set as an early break has put him into a 3-0 lead.

19.06: Victoria Azarenka's match with Aleksandra Wozniak is now underway...

He won't be pleased with dropping a set, but Roger Federer is through to the fourth round of the Men's singles draw. It wasn't a vintage display from the Swiss but he nevertheless marches on.

RESULT: Federer 6-3 4-6 6-2 7-5 Mahut

19.02: And an ace gets him on his way.

19.01: That's so typical of Federer. The world number three silences the Roland Garros crowd as he finds a break of serve. The Swiss will now serve for the match...

19.00: World nummber one Novak Djokovic has just started in his match with Frenchman Nicolas Devilder...

18.45: This one isn't over! Some fine returning from Mahut forces Federer into the error and the Frenchman finds a break. It's 4-4 now in the fourth.

18.43: On the Women's side of the draw, Angelique Kerber's third round tie with Flavia Pennetta is now underway...

18.42: Federer manages to find a crucial break and will now serve to take a 5-3 lead in the fourth. Meanwhile, the umpire is doing his best to quell the jubilant French crowd.

That could have been difficult for Del Potro, but he's made fairly light work of the unpredictable Marin Cili to reach the fourth round. The Argentine will be happy.

RESULT: Del Potro 6-3 7-6[7] 6-1 Cilic

Having been on court for nearly five hours, Stanislas Wawrinka finally closes out his match against Gilles Simon. The Frenchman looked to be in control when he established a 2-1 lead, but Wawrinka fought tooth and nail to earn the win.

RESULT: Simon 5-7 7-6[5] 7-6[3] 3-6 2-6 Wawrinka

18.26: Meanwhile, Mahut now leads Federer 2-1 in the fourth. Federer to serve.

18.25: Del Potro is storming ahead now in his match with Cilic. The former US Open winner is 4-1 up in the third with two sets already under his belt.

It wasn't all plain sailing for Goffin against Kubot, but the Belgian is safely through to the fourth round at Roland Garros.

RESULT: Goffin 7-6[4] 7-5 6-1 Kubot

18.21: That's wonderful from Federer. A graceful forehand down the line puts him 40-15 up before an unreturnable serve sees him hold.

18.19: A solid start from Mahut in this fourth set as he holds serve. Meanwhile David Goffin is serving for the match in his contest with Lukas Kubot.

18.18: Juan Martin Del Potro looks well on his way to taking the third set against Marin Cilic. A service breaks puts the Argentine 3-1 up.

18.14: Elsewhere, Federer's fellow countryman Wawrinka holds serve to take a 3-1 lead in the final set of his match against Gilles Simon.

18.13: SET! That's devastating from Federer. In his own casual way he slams an ace down court to take the third set 6-2. The Swiss is now a set away from the fourth round.

18.11: Elsewhere, Stanislas Wawrinka finds a break in the final set against Gilles Simon. Wawrinka is now on serve and 2-1 up.

18.09: Good evening! Nicolas Mahut prolongs his misery in this third set for just a while longer as he holds serve. Federer to serve for the set and a 2-1 lead.

18.04: Wow, that was a frantic last half-an-hour. I need a lie down! I'll leave you in the more than capable hands of Jack Prescott for the rest of the evening...

Latest men's scores: Federer 6-3 4-6 4-1 Mahut, Simon 5-7 7-6[5] 7-6[3], 3-6 1-0 Wawrinka, Del Potro 6-3 7[9]-6[7] Cilic, Goffin 7-6[5] 7-5 2-1

18.01: It seems as if Mahut's moment has passed as Federer moves two breaks clear in the third set. A long way back for the Frenchman from here. Latest scores coming your way now...

17.59: SET! Fortunately for Del Potro, he won't live to regret those six missed match points as he eventually edges the second-set tie-break 9-7.

17.56: Catching up on the Federer versus Mahut contest...the world number three is a break up in the third after a hitting a superb passing winner.

17.54: SET! Wawrinka and Simon is heading into a decider after the Swiss overturns Simon's early break in the fourth to level the match at 2 sets apiece. Remember, the winner of this faces Tsonga in the next round.

17.51: SET! Deja Vu for Goffin as he again completes an impressive turnaround in the second. The Belgian goes two-love ahead in sets after claiming the set 7-5.

17.49: A missed opportunity for Del Potro, or six to be more precise. He storms into a love-40 lead on as Cilic serves to stay in the set but the Croat battles back to level at deuce. The ninth seed Del Potro then wastes another three break points as Cilic eventually snatches an epic 12th game and forces a tie-break. The Argentine should be two sets up by now.

17.47: Seppi has wrapped up a five-set win over Verdasco in what was a real clay-court exhibition. I warned that this one would go the distance, but I only felt safe officially backing the Italian when he was two breaks up. That's how tight an affair this one was.

Result: Seppi 7-5 3-6 6-3 4-6 6-2 Verdasco

17.44: At least one of my predictions looks to be coming true. Seppi is now two breaks up in his deciding set against Verdasco and will shortly serve for the match.

17.42: Maybe I spoke too early in regards to Simon's soon-to-be victory. Wawrinka has pulled a break back and we are once again on serve in the fourth.

17.40: Just as he did in the first, Goffin comes from behind to pull it back to 5-5 as he breaks to love against Kubot.

17.38: SET! He had been putting more pressure on the Federer serve and now Mahut has a break to show for it, and at a crucial time too. The world number 89 is gifted a double fault by Federer before powering back a superb return winner to claim the second set and surprisingly even things up at a set apiece on the Phillipe Chatrier Court.

17.36: Simon and Seppi each have one foot in the fourth round. 11th seed Simon is now a 2-1 ahead in sets and a break up against Wawrinka while Seppi has broken Verdasco midway through their fifth set decider on Court Two.

17.33: This second set could be going all the way as we continue to go with serve. The Frenchman is unlucky with a couple of odd bounces off the surface but remains calm to move within a game of levelling the match.

17.28: More signs of Mahut slightly troubling Federer as he forces the six-time Wimbledon champion to deuce again. For the second occasion though, Federer turns up the heat when required and Mahut cannot snatch a break.

17.25: As we approach the hour mark, Mahut is still in touch in this second set and forces Federer into several mistakes as he holds for 4-3.

17.22: Goffin again finds himself a break down against Kubot, while Cilic has pulled it back to 5-5 with Del Potro.

17.20: Mahut has a glimpse of a break at 15-30 but Federer soon puts an end to those hopes with two powerful first serves. Mahut, being watched by sporting compatriots Samir Nasri and Serge Betsen among others, can only return them into the net.

17.17: More doggedness from Mahut as he again fights to prevent Federer from breaking with the scores at deuce. He's not letting the Swiss move clear in the second.

17.16: Del Potro is going about his business quietly on Court One. He's now a set and a break up against Cilic and will shortly serve for a two-set advantage.

17.14: SET! I hate to say I told you so. Verdasco and Seppi are heading into a decider after the Spaniard broke with a superb cross-court forehand winner. This one could go either way.

17.12: He may be stubborn on his own serve, but Mahut is not remotely threatening a break on Federer's. Another comfortable hold for the Swiss, who levels the second up at 2 apiece.

17.10: Good determination from Mahut. Federer pulls him back to deuce but rather than fold, the Frenchman holds firm to keep the match set with serve.

17.05: Mahut and Federer exchange games on serve at the start of the second.

17.03: There's another fierce tussle happening on Court Two, where Verdasco leads 5-4 in the fourth. The Spaniard is attempting to take it into the fifth, with Seppi currently 2 sets to 1 in-front.

16.59: SET! Simon takes a 2 sets to 1 lead over Wawrinka after winning the tie-break 7-4. This match has already gone three hours - could be an epic if we go all the way.

16.55: SET! Unsurprisingly Federer takes the first set 6-3. Mahut matched him during the opening stages but class prevailed the longer we played as the third seed took his first step to the fourth round.

16.53: SET! Goffin takes the tie-break 7-4 and thus the opening set against Kubot. Simon and Wawrinka will decide the third set in the same fashion after playing to 6-6 on the Suzanne Lenglen Court.

Latest men's scores: Federer 5-2 Mahut, Simon 5-7 7-6[5] 6-5 Wawrinka, Del Potro 6-3 1-1 Cilic, Seppi 7-5 3-6 6-3 2-3 Verdasco, Goffin 6-6 Kubot

16.49: Fed reels off two games in quick succession to gain control of the first. He's now just one game away from claiming the opening set.

16.48: Goffin and Kubot will settle the first set with a tie-break after the young Belgian overturned the early break of serve he surrendered.

16.46: Federer moves 4-2 ahead with the first break of serve in the contest.

16.43: Mahut puts some pressure on the Federer serve for the first time, but the 2009 champion stays as composed as ever to hold to thirty.

16.42: We currently have five men's third-round matches on court. I'll round-up the latest scores for you shortly...

16.40: SET! Del Potro, who could prove a real threat to the top four if he plays to his potential, claims the first set 6-3 against Marin Cilic, who is a dangerous opponent himself.

16.38: Federer sets up a break point with a superb forehand passing shot, but Mahut forces him to deuce and then battles hard to hold and level a two games apiece.

16.37: The momentum in the Simon and Wawrinka match continues to change hands as the Swiss breaks back midway through the third.

16.34: After missing out on two game points, Goffin steals a break from Kubot at the third attempt to bring the match back on serve.

16.32: This match is off to a flier as Federer moves 2-1 ahead with a convincing hold to love.

16.30: An equally competent start from Mahut, who levels in quick time.

16.27: Federer versus Mahut is now underway, and the 16-time Grand Slam champion wastes little time in getting himself on the scoreboard by taking the first game.

16.26: A bit late on this one, but Simon is a break up against Wawrinka in the third on the Suzanne Lenglen Court.

16.24: SET! Seppi wraps up the a 6-3 victory in the third set against Verdasco.

16.18: Likewise, Del Potro has an early advantage against Cilic. He's three games to one up on the Croat.

16.17: Kubot is a break up against Goffin, who eliminated Arnaud Clement in the last round.

16.15: Roger Federer is next up on Phillipe Chatrier against Nicolas Mahut. That match will be taking centre stage when it begins shortly...

16.10: It is a back and forth match on Court Two, where Seppi looks poised to take the third and restore his set advantage. He's a break up on Fernando Verdasco at 5-2.

16.06: France's top star books his place in the fourth round of his home Grand Slam then as Tsonga's progresses in straight sets. That was an entertaining match against Fognini, who was on a par with the world number five in terms of stroke play, but just couldn't hold his serve. Tsonga could well face compatriot Simon in the next round, should the 27-year-old oust Wawrinka.

16.05: SET! Simon does not waste his second chance at levelling his match against Wawrinka as he edges the tie-break 7-5.

Result: Tsonga 7-5 6-4 6-4 Fognini

16.00: Just as one men's singles match is about to finish, two more are just beginning. Juan Martin Del Potro and Marin Cilic have started their third round tie on Court One, while David Goffin versus Lucasz Kubot is also underway.

15.57: The answer to my previous question...no, Fognini can't hold again. This time he doesn't make Tsonga work too hard for the break as he gifts him three points with unforced errors. The fifth seed is about to serve for the match.

15.55: A pair of brilliant forehands on the move from Tsonga helps him level at four apiece in the third. Can Fognini hold again? If he doesn't, you feel this might be his service game of the match.

15.54: The second set between Simon and Wawrinka has gone to a tie-break. Will the home favourite live to regret that missed chance at 5-4 up?

15.52: Finally, Fognini is able to hold and for the first time in the set, he moves ahead. The Italian shows good character here, coming up with two big first serves to force long returns from Tsonga before clinching the game with a clever drop shot.

15.50: SET! Verdasco evens things up against Seppi in a battle of two clay court specialists, winning the second 6-3. I'll say it again, this one has five sets written all over it.

15.48: Chance wasted for Simon to level his match with Wawrinka at a set apiece as he surrenders his serve to the Swiss.

15.46: A comfortable straight-sets win for Stosur, who continues to go from strength to strength since her maiden Grand Slam win at Flushing Meadows last September. If I had to put money on anyone for the women's title, it might just be the Australian.

Result: Petrova 3-6 3-6 Stosur

15.44: Point proven in the Tsonga versus Fognini contest. There's another break as the fifth seed strikes the net and wastes an opportunity to open up a gap on the Italian.

15.42: The real tussle that was developing on Court Two has slightly calmed as Verdasco moves into a 5-2 lead in the second. Unless Seppi can produce a comeback to match his first-set revival, this one will be level at a set each.

15.40: Stosur can sniff the fourth round now. A break here on the Petrova serve will see her through.

15.37: It is another break for Tsonga, who steals Fognini's serve for a seventh time in the match. Neither of these guys appear able to hold at the moment.

15.35: A superb rally ends up with both men at the net after Tsonga reached down low to pluck a drop shot out of nowhere. The pair lean over the net (careful, that's strictly a rule break) to shake hands afterwards. Nice touch.

15.33: After exchanging early breaks, Simon and Wawrinka is back on serve in the second at 4-4.

15.31: Stosur is well on her way to a fourth round. She requires just two more games to see of Nadia Petrova on Court Two.

15.27: More signs of life from the Italian as he breaks back against Tsonga, just like he did in the opening two sets.

15.23: A brilliant hold to love from Fognini shows that he hasn't given up just yet though. One superb forehand winner in particular showed that he has the shots to trouble the Frenchman. Even Tsonga was impressed.

15.21: Tsonga looks firmly in control on the Phillipe Chatrier Court after an early break in the third.

15.18: Better news for the watching French crowd on Court One. Simon has broken back and is now level in the second set with Wawrinka at 2-2.

15.16: That resurgence is now complete as the Italian holds to love to take the first set 7-5. I correctly predicted Berdych and Anderson to five sets earlier today- this is another I'm tipping to go all the way.

15.13: Seppi is now just one game away from completing an excellent first-set comeback. Another fine break has given him the chance to serve out for the opener.

15.11: I have some good news and bad news for the home French crowd. Good news first? Okay, Tsonga has extended his lead to two sets against Fognini, but Simon is now a set and a break down against Wawrinka.

15.08: Seppi on the other hand has managed to pull things back to level terms with Verdasco. The first set on Court One is in the balance at five games apiece.

15.04: SET! Petrova threatened a fightback against Stosur but the sixth seed stayed strong to take the opener 6-3.

15.02: The winner of that match will face the victor of Tsonga and Fognini, which may well be the latter now that he has regained control of the second. A fifth break of the Italian's serve and a comfortable hold, despite one superb return winner from Fognini, have put him 5-3 ahead.

15.00: SET! Wawrinka comes from behind, winning four consecutive games to snatch the first set from Simon.

Latest men's scores: Fognini 5-7 3-4 Tsonga, Simon 5-7 0-0 Verdasco, Verdasco 5-3 Seppi

Latest women's scores: Petrova 2-5 Stosur

14.58: We have three men's third round matches currently on court and a solitary women's match. Score updates from all shortly...

14.56: Another Frenchman losing his grip on a match is Gilles Simon in the first set against Wawrinka. He has surrendered his lead and is now serving to stay in the match.

14.54: Just as Tsonga appeared to be in control of the second, he hands Fognini a way back into the set by gifting him a break with several unforced errors.

14.51: Stosur was looking like she could take the first set against Petrova to love but the 27th seed has just broken back against the Australian.

14.49: The second set now seems to be going Verdasco's way on Court One. He broke Seppi back immediately before holding to 15 to take a 5-2 advantage in the first.

14.46: Wawrinka is hanging on in the first set against Simon, but the number 11 seed now has the chance to serve out for the opener.

14.44: US Open champion Stosur has made a storming start to her tie with Petrova and leads 3-0.

14.42: Seppi has quickly got himself back into the first set against Verdasco, earning a break from the Spaniard.

14.40: Stubborn play from Fognini as he holds off a strong Tsonga challenge on his serve. The Italian is on the scoreboard in the second set, but is still a break down.

14:38: A third round match from the women's draw has just got underway on Court One as Nadia Petrova faces Samantha Stosur.

14.36: Tsonga gets a fortunate bounce of the net on his way to holding serve. The fifth seed is approaching the net a lot, which is usually a sign that he is feeling pretty good about his game.

14.33: It is proving to be a real slug-fest on the Suzanne Lenglen Court between Simon and Wawrinka. The Frenchman leads 4-2, but the match has been going nearly forty minutes already.

14.30: Verdasco has taken an early two-love lead in his match with Seppi, while Tsonga has claimed an early break in the second.

14.26: SET! So, Tsonga does hold for the set this time around, but he was made to fight hard for that 7-5 victory in the opener.

14.25: Meanwhile, two more seeded players, Fernando Verdasco, and Andreas Seppi have begun their third round match on Court Two.

14.23: Thanks Danielle! Tsonga responds with a break at a key time. He now has the chance to serve out for the set.

14.22: Right, that's me done for the day! I'll hand you back over to Joe Fish, who will take you through all of this afternoon's play.

14.19: Fognini makes a great comeback to deny Tsonga the set and goes 5-5 with a chance to take the advantage on his serve now.

14.16: Tsonga is currently serving for the set and is executing a number of strong forehand shots across the court but Fognini is trying to hold him off with some impressive returns.

Result: Anderson 4-6 6-3 7-6 4-6 4-6 Berdych

14.14: Berdych has done it! The number seven seed books his place in the fourth round of the competition but you have to feel for Anderson, who held his own throughout the whole of the five-set clash.

14.11: Tsonga does go 5-2 and will have to break the Italian to snatch the first set. Meanwhile, Simon is currently leading Wawrinka 3-1 in the first set.

14.10: Tsonga is starting to control the game now and is just one point away from going 5-2 up with Fognini struggling a bit to find any answers.

14.07: Let's just head back on to Court 1 where Berdych is just one game away from winning the match after a battling five-set clash with Anderson. They must both be shattered! Although not as tired as Mathieu and Isner I presume...

14.05: Fognini relinquished the chance to take the break as Tsonga sees through his service game and takes a 4-2 lead in the first.

14.03: Tsonga's power seems to be paying off here but Fognini is refusing to give up and is close to a break on 40-40 on Tsonga's serve.

14:03: Make that 2-0 up for Simon who looks completely in control in the initial stages of his battle with Wawrinka.

14.01: Simon gets the first game under his belt by breaking Wawrinka instantly. A perfect start for the Frenchman.

Result: Martic 6-2 6-1 Medina Garrigues

13.57: Tsonga gets a vital break there by going 3-2 up with no challenge at all from the Italian. This could be a sign of what's to come!

13.55: Tsonga looks to be coming into his stride as he equals the scoreline at 2-2 with Fognini set to serve.

13.53: If we turn our attention to the women's third-round contest currently playing - Martic is on course for victory over Medina Garrigues as she takes a 5-1 lead in the second.

13.52: Meanwhile, Berdych is currently 2-1 down in the fifth but the contest is going by the way of serve on Court 1.

13.51: Switching to the other main court, Gilles Simon and Stanislas Wawrinka have just got underway.

13.48: The Frenchman finally nabs the break point and is staring to take a hold on the match as Fognini leads 2-1 in the first.

13.47: Tsonga has had three break points thus far but has been unable to turn them.

13.44: Heading over to Court 1 briefly as the edgy contest continues between Berdych and Anderson as neither opponent is yet to find the breakthrough in the fifth set as it stands at 1-1.

13.23: Seems as though Tsonga has realised what he's up against and is starting to opt for power to throw off his opponent.

13.43: A great lofty shot from Fognini there, who claims the point after Tsonga lost his balance with a slip on the clay court.

13.41: The Italian manages to get the break after Tsonga's shot bobbles on the net and falls out of the boundaries to give Fognini a 2-0 lead.

13.40: Number five seed Tsonga is struggling a little to find his feet in he opening game as Fognini is poised to get an early break in the first.

13.37: Fognini starts us off with a clean service game from the Italian, who goes 1-0 in the very early stages of this contest.

13.34: Right, we'll now focus on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who is now one of just seven Frenchman left in the tournament, and his battle against Fabio Fognini.

SET! Martic made it look easy over Medina Garrigues by taking a 6-2 win on the opening set and continuing her rich vain of form.

SET! Berdych grabs the fourth set 6-4 and forces the clash into a fifth and final set with Anderson.

Result: Sharapova 6-1 6-1 Morita

13.28: And Sharapova's strong forehand has seen her through with ease. The former world number one has a great chance of clinching the title now that Radwanska and Serena Williams have been knocked out.

13.25: Just one game to win in order for Sharapova to make it into the fourth round! She's currently 5-1 in the second.

13.24: A wayward shot from Morita gives Sharapova a 30 to love lead in her service game.

13.22: Meanwhile, number seven seed Berdych is just one game away from going 2-2 on sets with Anderson - setting up an exciting five-set decider.

13.22: Sharapova returns well to clinch the game and go 4-1 up with just two games away from victory.

13.21: Morita trying to hold on to her serve but Sharapova's just nabbed the advantage after a miss-hit from her opponent.

13.19: Morita looks a bit overwhelmed here as she can't seem to handle the Russian's powerful forehand shots across the clay court.

13.18: Meanwhile, it's all square on 4-4 in a tense match between Berdych and Anderson in the fourth with Anderson 2-1 on sets.

13.17: We'll now switch our attentions to Sharapova's third-round clash, where she is currently dominating with a 3-1 lead in the second.

Result: Granollers 7-6[1] 3-6 6-1 3-6 7-5 Jaziri

Result: Kuznetsova 6-1 6-2 Radwanska

13.13: Kuznetsova's superb performance is rewarded after defeating Radwanska for the sixth successive time in straight sets.

13.10: Meanwhile, Sharapova is looking comfortable against Morita as she sits with a 2-1 lead on the second after going a set up.

13.08: Hello all! Well, Kuznetsova looks to be taking control yet again, despite a few positive shots from Radwanska, as Kuznetsova takes it 5-2 with one game away from victory.

13.05: Right! That's enough from me for now. I'll be passing you over to my colleague Danielle Joynson for an hour or so while I go for a bacon sandwich and a large coffee. Enjoy!...

13.03: Radwanska pulls another game back and for all of her fantastic stroke play thus far, Kuznetsova hasn't killed off the third seed just yet. Errors are starting to upset the Russian's rhythm while Radwanska is sniffing an opportunity to regain parity in this second set.

13.01: Convincing display by Cibulkova, who advances into the third round with a comfortable straight-sets win over the experienced Spaniard.

Result: Cibulkova 6-2 6-1 Martinez Sanchez

12.58: SET! Sharapova makes light work of Morita in the first as she takes it 6-1 inside half-an-hour. Should be a routine passage into the third round from here for the Russian.

Latest men's scores: Anderson 4-6 6-3 7-6[4] 1-1 Berdych, Granollers 7-6[1] 3-6 6-1 3-6 4-5 Jarizi

Latest women's scores: Radwanskwa 1-6 1-3 Kuznetsova, Cibulkova 6-2 5-1 Martinez Sanchez, Medina Garrigues 1-3 Martic, Sharapova 5-1 Morita

12.54: Radwanskwa finally records victory on her serve to reduce the deficit to 3-1. All the other latest scores coming your way shortly...

12.52: It has all changed in the Granollers match as the Spaniard has surrendered his serve again to Jaziri, who will cause an upset and progress to the third round if he can hold here.

12.51: Another who seems to be coasting to victory, at least in the first set anyway, is Sharapova. The second seed is 4-1 up on her Japanese opponent.

12.50: Cibulkova looks to be on her way to the third round as she now leads by a set and a break against Martinez Sanchez.

12.47: This is incredible from Kutnetsova. She's now moved 3-0 ahead in the second and her clean striking is too much for Radwanska, who already appears a defeated woman.

12.46: Granollers has lost his advantage over Jaziri, who has pulled a break back to level at 4-4.

12.44: SET! Anderson has turned the game around as he now leads by two-sets-to-one against Berdych. The 31st seed is on course for an upset after winning the breaker 7-4. Those who put their money on the Czech may be a bit nervous now.

12.42: The women's match between Anabel Medina Garrigues and Petra Martic is underway on Court 2.

12.40: It is going with serve so far on the Suzanne Lenglen Court as Sharapova leads Morita 2-1.

12.38: Kuznetsova starts the second as she ended the first as she breaks Radwanska yet again. The 26th seed is now a set and a break up on the Pole, who is yet to hold her own serve.

12.35: It really is an even contest between Berdych and Anderson. The third set has gone to a tie-break.

12.32: SET! Fantastic stuff from Kuznetsova, who takes the first set 6-1 in half-an-hour. Radwanska wasn't exactly below par, but the Russian was striking the ball superbly. In the final game, two brilliant backhand passing shots forced the third seed to deuce, which Kuznetsova won at the third attempt.

12.31: SET! Fifteenth seed Cibulkova comfortably takes the first set 6-2 from Martinez Sanchez.

12.29: Maria Sharapova's second round match against Ayumi Morita is just about to begin. This one didn't get underway yesterday due to the late finish of the Isner and Mathieu epic, which was eventually won by the Frenchman.

12.27: Radwanska avoids drawing an embarrassing blank in the opening set by getting on the scoreboard at 5-1.

12.26: Twentieth seed Granollers is a break up in the decider against Jaziri.

12.24: Anderson and Berdych is now 5-5 in the third while Cibulkova has edged closer to claiming the first set against Martinez Sanchez.

12.21: More impressive stuff from Kuznetsova, who is just moments away from taking this first set to a bagel. Firstly she fights back from 15-40 down to hold serve before producing some stunning baseline hitting to break the Pole for a third time.

12.18: The match between Dominika Cibulkova and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez has been underway for about 20 minutes now. Cibulkova lead 4-2 at present.

12.16: Another game on court now sees the conclusion of yesterday's second round men's tie between Marcel Granollers and Malek Jaziri. Spaniard Granollers is 2-1 up in the final set with the scores at two sets apiece overnight.

12.13: Meanwhile, Kuznetsova has come flying out against Radwanska, who defeated Venus Williams in the last round. The Russian has already broken the world number three twice and leads 3-0 in the opening stages.

12.11: Berdych and Anderson continue to battle away on Court One, with the third set currently on serve at 4-3 to the Czech.

12.09: That could be considered somewhat of an surprise result as the former world number one and 2008 champion is knocked out. Ivanovic started so convincingly but mistakes crept in as the match went on and Errani capitalised with some fine play of her own. An excellent victory for the Italian, who advances to the fourth round of Roland Garros for the first time.

Result: Ivanovic 6-1 5-7 3-6 Errani

12.05: Errani can't wrap the contest up on the first attempt but she has another chance here on her own serve.

12.03: Another women's match is underway on the Phillipe Chatrier Court as third seed Agnieszka Radwanska faces former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova.

12.01: Errani does hold successfully on this occasion to end a run of four consecutive breaks. She is now just one game away from the fourth round.

Latest men's scores: Anderson 4-6 6-3 2-2 Berdych

Latest women's scores: Ivanovic 6-1 5-7 2-4 Errani

11.57: More needless mistakes from Ivanovic, who seems to have lost the radar on her usually potent forehand. Errani moves a break in-front again, but she is equally as unreliable on her own serve.

11.55: One match from each the men's and women's draws on court at the moment. Score updates coming from both of those shortly...

11.52: I hinted that there would be more breaks in the match on the Suzanne Lenglen Court and there has been. Ivanovic, seemingly flustered by Errani's comeback, has resorted to her natural power game and her strong baseline hitting firstly earns her a game point before and then forces her Italian opponent to send a forehand long.

11.50: Just a word on that victory for Sloane Stevens. The Florida-born star advances into the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time and is carrying the American flag in the absence of the eliminated Williams sisters. She's the only teenager in the world's top hundred, so a very good showing thus far at Roland Garros for the 19-year-old. It won't get any easier for her though. She has a potential tie against US Open champion Samantha Stosur in the next round.

11.48: The unforced errors are piling up for Ivanovic while Errani, now playing with confidence, claims another break on the Serb's fragile serve. That could be the decisive game in this match, but we've had so many breaks already that you wouldn't rule Ivanovic out just yet!

11.46: SET! Anderson is back on level terms with Berdych after taking the second 6-3. I've got a feeling this one could go to five sets.

11.44: Result: Johansson 3-6 2-6 Stephens

11.42: Ivanovic and Errani exchange breaks in the opening stages of the third set before the latter records a comfortable hold to move ahead for the first time in the match.

11.37: Sloane Stephens has been going about her business quietly on the Phillipe Chatrier court and now has the chance to serve for the match against Johansson.

11.35: Anderson and Berdych are now following suit in terms of regular breaks of serve. The seventh seed restored parity at 4-4 before the South African broke back immediately and is now serving for the set.

11.32: SET! Errani has equalised at 1-1 after taking the second set 7-5. It looked as if she may have missed her chance when she sent a drop shot into the net at 15-30 but she wasn't deterred as she produced two delicate volleys to claim the second. Somewhat surprising considering how the first set materialised, but credit to the Italian, she has fought back impressively.

11.30: Meanwhile, Anderson has broken Berdych on Court One to move 4-2 ahead in the second.

11.28: Errani edges in-front again and now has the chance to level the match at a set apiece.

11.25: Ivanovic holds successfully to level the scores up at 5-5 in the second.

11.24: Anderson versus Berdych continues to go with serve at 3-2 in the second. Not much more I can tell you about that one.

11.20: Just as you think Ivanovic is gaining the impetus, she allows Errani an easy hold with several unforced errors. Sloppy from the Serb, who is now serving to stay in the set.

Latest men's scores: Anderson 4-6 2-1 Berdych

Latest women's scores: Ivanovic 6-1 4-4 Errani, Johansson 3-6 1-1 Stephens

11.17: The match on Court Suzanne Lenglen won't surpass the Stephens vs. Johansson match for consecutive breaks as Ivanovic restores parity with a comfortable hold.

11.15: Just the three single's matches on court at the moment. Score update coming for you any minute...

11.13: Add another mark to that tally because Ivanovic has broken back immediately against Errani. As soon as the Italian is on second serve, the 2008 champion capitalises with aggressive striking, to which Errani has no answer. She has only won three points on second serve all morning.

11.11: There is slightly less excitement in the Anderson versus Berdych tie. Just as the first did, the second set has begun with serve.

11.09: The tally is at three for consecutive breaks in the Ivanovic and Errani clash. The former surrenders her serve for the second straight game and she seems to be losing some of the composure that saw her take the first set so comfortably.

11.07: SET! Stephens doesn't waste a second chance as she takes the first set 6-3. I think that's five games in a row that have gone against the serve in this one.

11.03: Two more breaks to inform you of as Ivanovic gets the game back on serve courtesy of a couple of Errani errors. Stephens meanwhile wastes her chance at serving for the opening set as hometown favourite Johansson makes it 5-3.

10.59: SET! Berdych claims the opener against Anderson, who had his own opportunity to break when leading 40-30. It was not to be however as the towering Czech reeled off three points in a to secure a set advantage.

10.55: Breaks left, right and centre here. Johansson had reduced the deficit against Stephens but the American immediately broke back to restore her advantage. Meanwhile, Errani shows she is more than just a fighter as she steals the Ivanovic serve with a couple of cute drop shots.

10.52: Berdych has gained what could be a decisive break late in the first set against Anderson. He is 5-4 in-front and now serving for the opener.

10.49: Consecutive holds from Errani, who is proving a much more stubborn test in this second set.

10.47: After a long battle at deuce, Stephens has broken Johansson again and now leads 4-1.

10.46: Anderson and Berdych continues to go with serve as the South African leads 4-3 midway through the first.

10.45: That proves to be a chance wasted for Errani as Ivanovic shows some bottle to come from behind and hold well.

10.42: Errani misses a simple volley and thus an opportunity to break as Ivanovic pulls it back to deuce.

10.40: Finally some stability on the Errani serve as she records her first hold of the match to open the scoring in the second.

Latest men's scores: Anderson 3-2 Berdych

Latest women's scores: Ivanovic 6-1 Errani, Stephens 3-1 Johansson.

10.36: I'll take advantage of the break in Ivanovic's game to give latest scores update for you. Coming shortly...

10.34: SET! Excellent start from the Serbian, who claims the first set at the second opportunity. All too easy for Ivanovic, and since her early break, Errani has had no response to the 24-year-old's strong baseline hitting.

10.31: Ivanovic serving for the opening set...

10.30: A third break for Ivanovic, who once again shows great intent on Errani's weak second serve. The former champion looks strong and composed thus far, while her opponent has yet to hold her own serve.

10.28: Stevens has gone up a break against the home favourite Johansson

10.27: Berdych and Anderson has gone with serve thus far as the latter leads 2-1.

10.26: The Serb really has the momentum now as she takes a 4-1 advantage in the first following a comfortable hold.

10.23: What was I saying? Errani won't be overpowered? Right on cue Ivanovic produces a fantastic game to break to love. She really attacks Errani's second serve and connects beautifully with a pair of strong strikes to regain control.

10.22: Tomas Berdych has got the men's action underway against Kevin Anderson. Many have tipped the Czech as an outsider for the tournament and considering his early form, it is hard to dispute.

10.19: Great response from Errani as she breaks back immediately. The Italian shows that she won't be out-powered by the much bigger Ivanovic with a couple of strong forehand winners down the line. We are back on serve here.

10.16: Johansson has drawn first blood against Stephens.

10.15: Sloppy from Errani as she gifts Ivanovic an early break with a double fault.

10.14: Meanwhile Mathilde Johansson versus Sloane Stevens is underway on Court Philippe Chatrier.

10.12: Ivanovic makes a steady start, holding the first game to 30 against an opponent who has already won three clay-court tournaments this year.

10.10: This is the only match on court at the moment. The early start is due to the need to fit in an extra fixture, with Sharapova still to complete her second round tie against Ayumi Morita.

10.08: The match is underway, with Ivanovic on serve.

10.06: That 2008 Roland Garros win has been a bit of a curse on Ivanovic's career. The Serb hasn't reached a Grand Slam quarter-final since.

10.03: The two women have stepped out onto court to start their warm ups. Ivanovic is a former French Open champion let's not forget.

09.59: Play is set to begin shortly, with Ivanovic versus Sara Errani taking centre stage at the start of today's action.

09.56: Djokovic is aiming to become the first man in 43 years to hold all four Grand Slam titles. His next step is a tie against Frenchman Nicolas Devilder. That will be a match that splits the Roland Garros crowd.

09.52: Court One is also home to some promising matches today as title outsider Tomas Berdych plays Kevin Anderson, while Samantha Stosur and Juan Martin Del Potro feature later on in the schedule.

09.50: Sandwiched in between that, Gilles Simon takes on Stanislas Wawrinka in one of the pick of the third round ties.

09.45: Ana Ivanovic begins play on Court Suzanne Lenglen before Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic and Victoria Azarenka are in action.

09.42: Those two ties are followed by Jo Wilfried Tsonga's match against Fabio Fognini and Roger Federer's clash with Nicolas Mahut.

09.37: Home favourite Mathilde Johansson is first on Court Philippe Chatrier today from 10.00am before third seed Agnieszka Radwanska faces a potential banana skin tie against former winner Svetlana Kuznetsova.
