Milos Raonic stuns Rafael Nadal to reach semis

Milos Raonic reaches the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells following a stunning three-set win over Rafael Nadal.

Milos Raonic is into the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after fighting back from a set down to beat Rafael Nadal.

Raonic pushed the Spaniard hard early in the first set, but a string of errors on his serve let the third seed get the break before comfortably serving out for the opener.

The Canadian upped the intensity on the return in the second set, making Nadal face a couple of set points, but he found big serves to prevent his opponent from levelling the match.

With neither player able to get ahead, the set went to a tie-breaker, and the sixth seed took control at the start after Nadal made a double fault.

Nadal battled to keep the scores close before taking the lead with a forehand down the sideline, although Raonic kept himself in the contest by saving a couple of match points.

The Canadian brought up another set point after finding a big return against the Nadal serve, and managed to force it into a deciding set when the third seed fired long.

Nadal looked to have made a decisive move when he went 5-4 ahead in the third set and brought up a break point on the Raonic serve.

However, the world number six managed to save that break point before breaking Nadal himself and serving out the deciding set 7-5.

Raonic will now play Roger Federer in the semi-finals after the world number two beat Tomas Berdych in straight sets earlier.
