Ballboy struck by Feliciano Lopez serve

A ballboy fails to avoid a 124mph serve from Feliciano Lopez during the Australian Open second round on Thursday.

A ballboy was forced to leave the court after being struck by a serve from Spain's Feliciano Lopez.

During the sixth game of his contest with Adrian Mannarino, the 12th seed, who is regarded as one of the biggest servers in the sport, sent down a serve that registered at 124mph.

However, a ballboy at the opposite end of the court was unable to evade the approaching ball which struck him in the midriff, resulting in him requiring several minutes to recompose himself.

He was required to leave the court for a short period, but he soon returned as Lopez fought back from two sets behind before benefiting from his opponent retiring from the contest during the fourth set.
