Wales's Georgia Davies vows to 'give more' in 50m backstroke semi-finals

Davies vows to 'give more' in semi-finals

Team Wales swimmer Georgia Davies believes that she can produce a stronger display in tonight's 50m backstroke semi-finals, despite setting a new Commonwealth record in the heats.

The 23-year-old, who has already clinched a silver medal in the 100m backstroke final, won this morning's heat in 27.90 seconds.

Despite her impressive time, the London-born swimmer is hopeful that she has more left in the tank to reach the final.

"I'm quite pleased with that heat time," Davies told reporters. "Because I didn't race yesterday, I wanted to have a little bit of a bash at the time this morning.

"Sometimes you feel a little bit stiff after having a day off, but I think there's quite a lot more to come tonight, hopefully. I felt quite controlled and smooth there."

Davies also told Sports Mole that Wales are capable of adding three more medals and reaching their six-medal target by the end of tomorrow's finals.
