Lochte, Wallace ease into 200m medley final

USA swimmer Ryan Lochte and Great Britain's Daniel Wallace have eased into tomorrow night's 200m individual medley final at the World Championships in Kazan.

Wallace, who was second fastest in the heats this morning, paced himself throughout the butterfly and backstroke legs.

The 22-year-old moved into second place with his breaststroke and managed to touch the wall in second place in 1:57.77 after coming down the final 50m in freestyle.

Lochte took a commanding lead in his first 100m and he never let it slip as he cruised to victory in the second semi-final in 1:56.81.

Roberto Pavoni faced a swim-off after tying eighth with Conor Dwyer of the USA, but the Brit missed out by 0.08 of a second in the decider.
