US claim gold in women's 4x100m medley relay

The United States have brought home gold in the women's 4x100m medley relay with a world record finish time of 3:52.05.

Missy Franklin got the Americans off to the best possible start in the backstroke length, and Allison Schmitt powered to a freestyle finish.

The Australians came in second to take silver with a finish time of 3:54.02, with Japan claiming bronze on 3:55.73.

Team GB, led off by Gemma Spofforth, struggled to match the pace-setters and ended up in eighth place, finishing in 3:59.46.
