Franklin wins 200m backstroke semi-final

Missy Franklin has secured her place in the final of the 200m backstroke after recording a time of 2:06.84 in her semi-final.

The American was comfortable in victory, with the winning time far from impressive despite her dominant swim.

Veteran Kirsty Coventry finished second place to book her spot in the final and Canadian Sinead Russel was just behind the Zimbabwean.

The result means that Team GB's Lizzie Simmonds will compete for a medal in the final.
