Nataliia Prologaieva wins S5 50m freestyle gold

Nataliia Prologaieva of Ukraine has defended her S5 50m freestyle title with a strong showing of 35.88s.

It was a close swim but the defending champion proved just too strong for Spain's Teresa Perales, who pushed her close with a 36.50s.

The rest of the field were a little way back, but Inbal Pezaro of Israel did enough to take bronze with a time of 37.89s.

Joana Maria Silva managed an Americas record for Brazil, touching home in 38.11s.
