GB's James Guy: 'I never thought I'd win World gold in 200m freestyle'

Great Britain's James Guy admits that he "never thought" he would win world gold in the 200m freestyle final in Kazan.

Great Britain's James Guy has admitted that he "never thought" that he would win gold in the 200m freestyle final at the World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

The 19-year-old managed to edge out a competitive field of Sun Yang, Ryan Lochte, Chad le Clos and Cameron McEvoy to win gold in 1:45.14.

"It's quite nice to PB, I never thought I'd make the final," Guy told Eurosport. "I just [planned] to go out there and race hard and it paid off. I never thought I'd beat Sun Yang and [the others]. It's a huge race for me, I never thought I'd be on top."

Guy won silver in the 400m freestyle on Sunday.
