James Guy claims 400m freestyle silver

James Guy has won Great Britain's first medal in the pool at the World Swimming Championships, finishing second in the men's 400m freestyle final this afternoon.

The 19-year-old set a new British record in the process, completing the race in a time of 3:43.75, just over a second behind China's Sun Yang, who claimed the gold.

Canada's Ryan Cochrane completed the podium, having also been third fastest in this morning's heats.

Sun's time of 3.42.58 was just two seconds off Paul Biedermann's world record, which has stood since 2009.
