Bouwer wins T13 50m freestyle gold

Charles Bouwer has taken the gold medal for South Africa in the T13 freestyle final.

It was an exceptionally close race and Bouwer needed an African record to win, finishing in a time of 23.99.

Ihar Boki of Belarus touched the wall just after Bouwer to take silver with a time of 24.07, and Oleksii Fedyna of Ukraine was just 0.02s back and had to settle for silver.

All eight swimmers in the final were separated by just 0.83s.
