Japan's Yasuhiro Tanaka sets new world record in men's 100m breaststroke heat

Japan's Paralympic swimmer Yasuhiro Tanaka has broken the world record in the men's SB14 100m breaststroke just minutes after Russia's Artem Pavlenko set the new time.

Pavlenko originally recorded the new feat in the first heat of the contest after finishing the race in a time of 1:08.08. However, the achievement didn't last long as the remaining SB14 competitors lined up for the second heat.

Tanaka managed to touch the end of the pool in the Aquatics Centre before his opponents in a new world record time of 1:07.08, despite losing his white swimming cap during the race.

Meanwhile, British duo Aaron Moores and Dan Pepper both qualified for tonight's final.
