Jiao Liuyang has won the gold medal for China in the women's 200m butterfly.

The 20-year-old jostled for the lead with Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain throughout, edging out her rival in the last 50m.

Jiao finished with an Olympic record time of 2:04.06, with Garcia going home with silver, and Natsumi Hoshi of Japan bagging the bronze.

Team GB's Jemma Lowe fought hard, and remained in contention for the podium until the final stretch when she fell off the pace and ended up in sixth.
