Team GB swimmer Hannah Miley has admitted that she is in awe of Chinese rival Shiwen Ye.

Miley, who is up against the 16-year-old in this evening's 200m individual medley semi-final, described her opponent as an "amazing athlete".

"It's nuts," Miley told BBC Sport. "It's just the amazing athlete she is. I can't do anything about that, except be awed and proud that I can race against her.

"The main thing was trying to get to the semi. In Beijing I missed out on the final but this is a much tougher field.

"Anything can happen, hopefully I can go faster than that tonight."

Ye has already secured the gold medal in the 400m event, and goes up against Miley in the 200m semi-finals this evening.
