Kylie Palmer cleared to race at next year's Olympic Games

Kylie Palmer has admitted that she is fully focused on earning qualification for next year's Olympic Games after being handed a warning - rather than a ban - for a doping violation.

In 2013, Palmer tested positive for low levels of a masking agent, but after an investigation by the sport's governing body FINA, the Australian swimmer has avoided a lengthy period on the sidelines.

In a statement, the 25-year-old said: "I sincerely hope that this process is now over. My number one goal is to represent Australia at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and I cannot wait to get back on track to achieving that dream.

"It has been a distressing few months since I was first notified of the positive test back in April 2015. Since that time, I made the decision to accept a provisional suspension and missed the Fina World Championships in Kazan.

"I cannot get back that opportunity to represent my country internationally but I am now looking to the future."

Palmer won gold in the 4x200m relay at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
