Eamon Sullivan: 'Australian swimmers were under-prepared'

Eamon Sullivan admits that Australia's swimmers were not prepared for the pressure of the Olympics.

Australian freestyle swimmer Eamon Sullivan has admitted that his swimming teammates were "under-prepared" for the pressure of the Olympics after their disappointing showing in the pool.

Australia won just one gold medal in the Aquatics Centre during the London Games and Sullivan has admitted that the team buckled under the pressure.

"As much as you think you're ready for it, the difference between world championships and the Olympics is a hundred times more pressure," Sullivan told Reuters.

"We under-prepared for the expectations of the pressure and the experience of the Olympics and, unfortunately, it's a bad time to learn lessons.

"[However] for the next Olympics, if it's the same team, it'll be a different result."

The sole Australian swimming gold game in the women's 4x100m freestyle.
