Matt Hodgson to captain Western Force

Matt Hodgson will captain Western Force against the British and Irish Lions on Wednesday.

Western Force head coach Michael Foley has confirmed that Matt Hodgson will captain the side against the British and Irish Lions on Wednesday.

Foley, who has named six Test players in the squad, has also admitted that he is looking forward to the "special occasion" in Perth.

He told the club's official website: "The Lions match represents a special occasion for the players involved and everyone was keen to put their hands up for selection.

"From the outset we recognised the need to approach this week as an entire squad. To that end, every available member of our squad, a number from our wider training group, and club players from Perth and elsewhere will get opportunities against the Lions and Waratahs."

The Lions overcame the Barbarians last weekend.
