Toulon into Heineken Cup semi-finals

Toulon defeat Leinster 29-14 at Stade Mayol to book their place in the Heineken Cup semi-finals.

Toulon have defeated Leinster 29-14 to advance through to the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup.

Neither side could find a way over the try line in the first half, with two penalties apiece from Jonny Wilkinson and Jimmy Gopperth ensuring that the sides entered the interval all-square.

Xavier Chiocci crossed over for the first try of the tie on 45 minutes, before Matt Giteau added the extras for Toulon.

Gopperth converted another penalty to cut the advantage, but the second try for the hosts was not far behind thanks to Drew Mitchell, who added another five points on the hour.

Giteau successfully converted for the French side, while Delon Armitage kicked through the sticks to extend Toulon's lead further with a penalty.

There was still some hope for Leinster through Jordi Murphy's 69th-minute try, though a missed conversion ensured the score remained at 26-14 going into the closing stages.

Giteau kicked his second pen of the evening late on to confirm the victory and a semi-final berth for Toulon.
