Maro Itoje desperate to make final World Cup squad

Maro Itoje admits to being "chuffed" at receiving an England call-up but wants a spot in the final 31-man World Cup squad.

Saracens flanker Maro Itoje has said that he wants to make the most of his England opportunity and force his way into Stuart Lancaster's final squad for the Rugby World Cup in September.

The 20-year-old was a surprise addition to Lancaster's 50-man training squad, but he insists that he isn't there to simply make up the numbers.

He told Sky Sports News: "The motivation is to play for England. That is definitely a goal, and that will be a driving force behind the way I train and the way I conduct myself.

"I am really chuffed to be in the squad, and I just want to make the most of my opportunity. You don't get these kind of opportunities every day, so I want to go in and just try to make the most of it."

Itoje helped Saracens win the Aviva Premiership title with a 28-16 win against Bath on Saturday.
