Jamie Elliott and Samu Manoa both added tries in the opening 40 minutes, while the visitors had to settle for a pair of penalties.

Ben Foden scored a quick brace early in the second half as the home side opened up a commanding lead for the Saints, but efforts from Duncan Taylor and Kelly Brown kept the league leaders in contention.

However, Northampton were able to seal the victory with late efforts from Luther Burrell and Ken Pisi, rounding off a strong performance for the home side.

The result leaves Northampton one point behind their opponents in the table.
