Mark McCall praises "courageous" Saracens

McCall praises "courageous" Saracens

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has reflected on his side's narrow defeat against Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership final with great pride.

Sarries fell to a 20-24 loss after extra time at Twickenham earlier today to ensure that the Saints secured a memorable double.

Northampton won the contest in the dying seconds courtesy of Alex Waller's try, which was successfully converted by Stephen Myler to seal the victory.

"It's obviously a very painful way for the game to finish the way it finished," McCall told the club's official website. "We felt that nothing went our way, but I felt that our players were unbelievably courageous, unbelievably brave and we played well as well.

"It just felt like one of those days. It is was it is, but I repeat, I couldn't be, we couldn't be more proud of the how heroic the players were as we had to keep coming back and win it again and win it again."

Saracens finished nine points above Northampton in the final regular season league table.
