New Zealand TV show pays Samoan fine

A television show in New Zealand has agreed to pay a fine handed out to the Samoan rugby team.

Campbell Live has raised the NZ$10,000 (£4,890) after Alesana Tuilagi wore a branded mouthguard in Samoa's Pool D match against Fiji.

"Ten thousand for wearing an incorrect mouthguard seems like a hell of a lot to me," host John Campbell told The Dominion Post.

Strict sponsorship regulations are in place at the tourament, which finishes on Sunday, October 23.
