Ospreys sign Fijian international lock Tevita Cavubati

Ospreys complete the signing of Fijian international second-row Tevita Cavubati until the end of the season.

Ospreys have completed the signing of Fijian international second row Tevita Cavubati until the end of the season.

The Welsh club currently lead the way in the Guinness PRO12 but found themselves on the verge of an injury crisis when Lloyd Peers and De Kock Steenkamp were both ruled out for a large chunk of the season.

However, 27-year-old Cavubati has now been brought in to provide competition for Alun Wyn Jones and Rynier Bernardo in second row, and the 6'7" forward is "excited" about the challenge.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I'm really excited and looking forward to it," he told the club's official website.

"Having played against Wales at the Millennium Stadium in the autumn internationals I know what quality players there are at the Ospreys and how Welsh supporters get behind their team.

"This is a busy time of year in the PRO12 so hopefully I'll settle in quickly and be able to play a part for the team."

Cavubati has won four caps for Fiji, including an appearance in their narrow 17-13 defeat to Wales in Cardiff last month.
