Ospreys fine winger for homophobic tweet

The Ospreys have fined winger Kristian Phillips for an allegedly homophobic post on his Twitter page.

The 21-year-old admitted to abusing Big Brother contestant Aaron Allard-Morgan in November and has apologised.

"Aaron is the biggest loser I have ever seen, trying to turn it around and make Jay and Louise look bad! #BBUK #Faggot #Gimp #Getalife," he had tweeted.

"It was a stupid, throwaway comment that I made at the spur of the moment and no offence was intended whatsoever," Phillips said.

A statement from the club read: "As a result of the investigation, we are able to confirm that Kristian Phillips did post a tweet on November 7 via his personal account containing terminology likely to be construed as homophobic.

"Ospreys Rugby does not condone the use of such language in any way."

Phillips' fine is unspecified, but the Ospreys have reminded their players over the dangers posed by social media.
