Dragons deny Henson approach

Newport Gwent Dragons have denied making an approach to sign Gavin Henson.

The Welshman has been without a club since ending his contract with French side Toulon.

"I don't believe there's any conversations going on between Gavin and the Dragons," said assistant coach Rob Appleyard.

"At the moment I'm unaware that Gavin will be coming to the Dragons."

Appleyard did admit, however, that discussions about Henson had taken place between the regional coach, Darren Edwards, and the Welsh RFU, who have a 50% stake in the club.

"I think Darren has had long discussions about that, and I know the Union have also had discussions about that," he said.

The 29-year-old entered a self-imposed playing exile in 2009 after a spell with Ospreys but returned to club rugby in 2010 with Saracens.
