Rob Beale: 'Newport Gwent Dragons must keep Toby Faletau'

Beale: 'We must keep Faletau'

Rob Beale has said that the Professional Regional Game Board needs to ensure Toby Faletau continues to play club rugby in Wales.

One of the organisation's priorities is to keep Welsh players playing in the country, with the flanker nearing the end of his current contract with Newport Gwent Dragons.

The club's director of rugby told BBC Sport: "Effectively they've got 12 months to keep Toby Faletau at the Dragons.

"One of their stated aims is to keep Welsh players playing in Wales so if that is a stated aim then they've certainly got to be involved in the decision-making process of how we set about that.

"Whether that's Toby Faletau or any other talented Welsh player that's coming towards the end of his contract."

A number of Wales internationals, including Lee Byrne, Gethin Jenkins and Mike Phillips, have moved to French clubs in recent seasons.
