A dominant second-half performance has helped Northampton Saints to a 34-16 win over Newport Gwent Dragons in the LV= Cup.
Play was briefly suspended during the first half because of the weather conditions, with 50mph winds and heavy rain hitting the ground.
A Luc Jones try in the final seconds of the first half gave the home side a 16-15 lead at half time, after Northampton had edged ahead early on with a penalty try.
However, the Aviva Premiership side were too strong after the break, as Mike Haywood and Gareth Denman scored tries just seven minutes apart to open up an 11-point lead.
The visitors were able to increase their lead further and end any chances of a Newport comeback with just over 10 minutes left to play as GJ van Velze came off the bench to add their fifth.
