Newcastle hold on to beat Worcester

Newcastle Falcons have secured their second win of the Aviva Premiership season with a 16-11 victory over Worcester Warriors.

An early try from Mike Blair and a pair of penalties from Ryan Clegg helped the visitors take a 13-3 lead at the break.

David Lemi scored Worcester's only try of the match with just over 10 minutes left to play, but Paul Warwick missed the conversion, leaving the hosts two points down.

Phil Godman was able to split the uprights with a penalty three minutes later to give Newcastle a five-point cushion, which was enough for the visitors to seal the win.

The result leaves the Falcons ninth in the table, while Worcester, who are without a win this season, sit bottom.
