Alex Tait got the home side off to a bright start, diving over in the corner inside the opening five minutes, while Tom Catterick added a penalty shortly after.

Wasps hit back before half time though, as Rob Miller and Elliot Daly both added tries towards the end of the opening 40 minutes to leave the visitors ahead at the interval.

Joshua Furno soon edged Newcastle back ahead in the second half, powering over just a few minutes after the restart, while Juan Pablo Socino tried to put the win beyond doubt for the home side.

However, Guy Thompson came off the bench to score his first try for Wasps, levelling the scores ahead of a gritty final 10 minutes which saw neither side able to increase their total further.

The result leaves Wasps fourth in the table, while Newcastle remain 10th.
