Wasps sign Glasgow Warriors centre James Downey on loan

Wasps have signed Glasgow Warriors centre James Downey on loan until the end of the season.

The 33-year-old has been brought to the Ricoh Arena as injury cover for Chris Bell and Alapati Leiua.

Downey's previous clubs include Leinster, Munster and Northampton Saints.

"The players here are really positive and have been in great form," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "They've been very welcoming and now I just need to work hard, learn the calls and hopefully I can fit in seamlessly.

"It's a good chance to have another go in the Aviva Premiership and I'm looking forward to playing in front of some of the big crowds at the Ricoh Arena in the coming weeks."

Wasps return to action on Sunday when they host Harlequins in the league.
