London Irish make winning start

London Irish have made a winning start to their Challenge Cup campaign with a 43-16 away victory over Bordeaux-Begles.

Tries from Chris Hala'ufia and Topsy Ojo saw the visitors win the first half 14-6, and they dominated proceedings in the second period and took the game by the scruff of its neck in France.

Front-rower Halani Aulika burrowed over after 49 minutes and Sailosi Tagicakibau secured the four-try bonus point five minutes later.

Tagicakibau added another after 63 minutes and Jonathan Joseph scored their sixth with just nine minutes left on the clock, running in a 90m interception.
