Andy Short scores a late try to earn London Irish a draw at Wasps

Wasps are denied by a late Andy Short try as London Irish claim a thrilling 40-40 draw in their season finale.

London Irish scored a late try to rescue a dramatic 40-40 draw at home to Wasps on the final day of the Aviva Premiership season.

The home side made a dream start as Andrew Fenby crossed to score a try after just five minutes, but Wasps quickly hit back through Guy Thompson.

A quick line-out from London Irish led to an Alex Lewington try just two minutes later, before winger Sailosi Tagicakibau levelled the scores once more.

Chris Noakes then took advantage of some slack defending as he collected his own chip and slammed it down for his side's third try.

Wasps responded after the break with two quick tries as Tagicakibau scrambled over in the corner, before Rob Miller held off several tackles to score under the posts and confirm a bonus point.

Irish hit back again after the hour mark as James Short scored a try to confirm a bonus point for his side, before Shane Geraghty converted a vital penalty to give his side a two-point lead.

James Haskell thought that he had won the game for Wasps as powered over late in the game, but Andy Short scored a final-minute try to salvage Irish a draw.
