London Irish hold on to beat Sale Sharks

London Irish hold on to secure a 25-23 victory over playoff-chasers Sale Sharks in their Aviva Premiership meeting at the Madejski Stadium.

London Irish have held on to secure a 25-23 victory over playoff-chasers Sale Sharks in their Aviva Premiership meeting at the Madejski Stadium.

Both Alex Lewington and Tom Arscott scored a couple of tries each but the Exiles' kicking just about edged it for the result.

Andrew Fenby made a vital interception just before the half-time whistle, touching over to give Irish a 13-10 lead going into the second half.

Danny Cipriani managed to get the Sharks back in with a chance of a late winner but proved too little too late as the home side held on for the win.

The win keeps Irish in 10th while Sale remain in the top seven in the Aviva Premiership table.
