Tom Coventry realistic about London Irish hopes

Coventry realistic about Exiles hopes

London Irish head coach Tom Coventry has admitted that his team need to remain "realistic", despite having failed to win a game so far this season.

The Exiles are only just ahead of the relegation place, currently occupied by Newcastle Falcons, but they were beaten 45-14 by Bath at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

However, despite the determination to turn Irish's fortunes around, Coventry has warned that the squad must be "careful" not to get ahead of themselves.

"I would have liked to have got a couple of bonus points from some of our losses and obviously I want to win but you have to be realistic about where we are," Coventry told reporters.

"I haven't come over here to sit around and lose, we've just got to be careful that we don't get ahead of ourselves, we're a team that has been underachievers and we're desperate to prove ourselves in the competition.

"There's plenty of things to work on, if I worry about the result every week it'll be a tough place to work every day."

Irish are only of only three teams in the Aviva Premiership yet to secure a bonus point in their first four games.
